Refraction of Light Through a Prism: Prism is a transparent optical element which refracts light. But after passing through the prism it takes a different path. They can be used to trace the path of a ray of light as it passes through a prism. Refraction is also responsible for rainbows and for the splitting of white light into a rainbow-spectrum as it passes through a glass prism.
